Constant Contact acquired for $1 billion

Constant Contact the Email marketing company will be acquired by Endurance International as said on Monday for about $1.1 billion. Endurance international is web hosting giant under which brands like BigRock, HostGator and operates. It was founded in 1997 by Ravi Hari Chandran. Formerly called BizLand now has over 3 million subscribers. With this deal, it boosts subscribers to over 5 million.

Constant Contact was founded as “Roving Software” in 1995. Gail Goodman is the CEO and headquarter is in Waltham, Massachusetts. Constant Contact targets small businesses and non-profit organizations, offering them advertise products through emails.

Constant contact and Endurance both have offices in MA. This deal will add Constant Contact’s email marketing, events management and social media integration to Endurance’s portfolio of Web-hosting software for small and mid-size businesses.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016. Constant Contact will operate as a separate brand.
